Statement

Nordic Rowing Federation express our full solidarity with the Ukrainian people and along with World Rowing and all of the Nordic Rowing member federations, Denmark, Finland, Faroe Island, Norway and Sweden we strongly condemn the tragic situation with the Russian and Belarus military invasion of Ukraine.

Accordingly, Nordic Rowing Federation confirms that participation of Russian and Belarus rowers and rowing teams with immediate effect will not be allowed participation in any event scheduled by the Nordic Rowing Federation.

Succesful Faroe Islands rowers

Faroe Island rowers were succesful at the recent World Rowing Virtual Indoor Championships.

Gold medals to Sarita Kristina Hansen in Women Lightweight 500m and 2K in Master Category 30-39 and Guriardottir Hansen in Women U23 500M. Mattias Durhuus won bronze in Men U19 category.

Congratulation to all of you.

Bronze medal to Finnish Rower

The Finnish rower Joel Naukkarinen won a bronze medal in the mens open 2000 meter class at the World Rowing Indoor Championship which took place from 25-26 February 2022.

The open men’s 2000m was one of the highlight events and the race saw last year’s indoor
champion Ward Lemmelijn of Belgium come out on top again. Lemmelijn trailed Russia’s
Alexander Vyazovkin for the majority of the race, and in an epic sprint to the line overtook
him just before the finish, to the delight of his supporters in Belgium. He fell just short of the
magic sub 5:40 mark when he finished in a time of 5:41.7, ahead of Vyazovkin with Joel
Naukkarinen of Finland in third. Congratulation to Joel Naukkarinen.

2021 Nordic Junior Championship CANCELLED

Unfortunately the Nordic Rowing Federation has to announce that the upcoming 2021 Open Nordic Junior Championship in Stockholm Sweden June 19 and 20 has been cancelled due to the uncertain Covid-19 situation in the Nordic countries. This is a uniform decision made by all the Nordic member federation.

Nordic Rowing Federation is now postponing the regatta to 2022.
